The Brewster Projects existed as Detroit's largest residential housing project, designed to house the "working poor". Located
on Hastings Street, the centre of black culture in Detroit between the 1920s and 1950s, the buildings were also home to a young
Diana Ross and Smokey Robinson. By the early Sixties, Detroit was headed into an economic crisis and the buildings were
taken over by crime and decay and are now scheduled for demolition. Detroit, 2008.
